Trigger battle

The competition latest news

  1. 01-Mar-2010 The last testing day
We know you're waiting for the results of the battle, but we need one more day to finish testing the last competitor's trigger. So tomorrow we will be ready to announce the winner and let you know the further activity related to the battle.
  2. 24-Feb-2010 Changing the points calculation formula
We have corrected the way the Efficiency is calculated. Now if you lost all your bets your efficiency will be -1.0, whereas if you win all bets it'll be exactly 1.0.
The difference is that before the exchange commission was treated as loss which we think was wrong. This would result in Efficiency being slightly less than 1.0 when all bets were winning.
However this correction will not make any significant impact on the competitors' results.
  3. 22-Feb-2010 Schedule changes
    - Due to the cancellation of all yesterday's races the appropriate triggers will be tested today.
    - Having investigated into the first day 18 Feb 2010 of Alfaman's trigger, we've noticed that the settings file was altered by one of the testers, which affected the results. We decided to cancel those results and re-run the trigger on the 25th of Feb. We apologise for this inconvenience.
  4. 17-Feb-2010 The first final result
Congratulations to Andrew Hurrell for being the first competitor with completed testing results of his trigger "Selecting false steamers in running". The result is amazing!
  5. 14-Feb-2010 Schedule changes
Due to a technical fault of one of our testing servers we've made the following changes to the schedule:
    - Alfaman's trigger will be tested today
    - londolozi's trigger will be postponed till 20-02-2010.
Sorry for this inconvenience. There may be further changes to the schedule, however every competitor is guaranteed three days dedicated to their triggers.
We will porvide the modified schedule tomorrow.
  6. 08-Feb-2010 Testing Started
We have closed the submission of triggers for the competition and have appointed the schedule for the registered competitiors. Please check it here.
We have extended the period of testing by 1 week, due to the bigger number of submitted triggers than we originally thought. The testing starts tomorrow, 09/02/2010.
    Good luck!
  7. 28-Jan-2010 Submission deadline extended
Due to quite frequent intermittent problems with BetFair service this week we decided to extend the period within which you can submit your triggers.
It will give you more time to prepare and pre-test your strategies, as we believe it was difficult for you to do this in these circumstances.
Therefore, the final date for submitting your trigger is now 7th of February, 2010.
Also, we'd like to let you know that in case the winner chooses to take a book as the prize, we will not limit them to the book we originally picked, but instead will let him choose from the following:
    1. Optimal Play by Stewart Ethier & Walter Eadington
    2. Fixed Odds Sports Betting by Joe Buchdahl
    3. Winning Spread Betting Strategies by Malcolm Pryor
We find the original book a bit too much technical and more suitable for programmers, so in case the winner is not that much into coding, another book might be of more interest.
